Original Verse

"मूलबन्ध-ततः पूरस्-ततो जालन्धरस्-ततः |

कुम्भस्-तत उड्डियानस्-ततो रेच इति ह्ययम् ॥

षडङ्ग-कुम्भकः प्रोक्तः शम्भुना सर्व-सिद्धिदः ॥ १८७ ॥

सर्वत्र रेचकं कुर्याच्-छनैर्-एव न वेगतः |

अर्क-तूलं यथा नैव स्पन्दते पवनेन तु ॥ १८८ ॥"

Transliteration

"mūlabandha-tataḥ pūras-tato jālandharas-tataḥ |

kumbhas-tata uḍḍiyānas-tato reca iti hyayam ॥

ṣaḍaṅga-Kumbhakaḥ proktaḥ śambhunā sarva-siddhidaḥ ॥ 187 ॥

sarvatra recakaṃ kuryāc-chanair-eva na vegataḥ |

arka-tūlaṃ yathā naiva spandate pavanena tu ॥ 188 ॥"

Translation

"The component of ṣaḍaṅga-Kumbhaka stated by Śambhu are: Mūlabandha, Pūraka, Jālandhara-bandha, Kumbhaka, Uḍḍiyāna and Rechaka which leads to success. Rechaka should always be performed slowly and not rapidly, so as long as not, so as to not even move a piece of cotton with the expelled air. "
