Joga Pradipika 205- 208

Original Verse

"पूर्व कहो भिश्रिका जोई वाही विधि जो कीजै सोई । सब अंगुरी मुख बाहरि आने मुखको फुनि संपुट करि ठाने ॥२०५॥ जिभा उलति तालवे धरै हाथांसो आरंभ पुनि करै । आरँभ की क्रिया है जाई विधिपूर्व अब वर्णो सोई ॥२०६॥"

Transliteration

"pürva kaho bhiçrikä joé vähé vidhi jo kéjai soé | saba aìguré mukha bähari äne mukhako phuni sampuöa kari öhäne ॥205॥ jibhä ulaöi tälave dharai häthäàso ärambha puni karai | ärambha ké kriyä hai jäé vidhipürva aba varëo soé ॥206॥

Translation

Take all of the fingers away from the mouth and make a hollow like mouth. Turn the tongue and place it on the palate. Put right hand on the face and place the thumb towards the right nostril. Then inhale through the right nostril and after kumbhaka exhale through the left nostril. While inhaling again, inhale through the left and proceed in reverse order.

Steps/Technique

1. Sit with the heels together and knees apart.

2. The right palm should be placed on the mouth.

3. Turn the tongue backwards.

4. Inhale through the right nostril and hold the breath judiciously.

5. Exhale through the left nostril.

6. Inhale through left nostril and hold the breath judiciously.

8. Exhale through the right nostril.

9. Repeat this breath for 3 minutes."

Benefits

This Meditative asana brings stability to the mind through withdrawing from the senses. This makes a complete energy circuite.
